The Sandbox partners with pro skater Tony Hawk

Professional skater Tony Hawk partners with virtual gaming company The Sandbox and NFT platform Autograph to develop the biggest skatepark in the Metaverse.

Tony Hawk Inc. and The Sandbox will build the skatepark dedicated to Tony Hawk’s career path on the 6×6 Tony Hawk’s LAND.

Autograph will create non-fungible tokens of Tony’s iconic skateboards. In addition, the marketplace will feature Hawk-inspired NFTs of equipment and apparel. It’s worth noting that the tokens will be turned into 3D voxel versions with in-game functionality, so holders can use them in The Sandbox’s Metaverse.

Players will also be able to use VoxEdit to develop the skateparks of their dreams, and create ramps, rails, and skating challenges.

“I have been a fan of new technology all of my life — from the first videogames to home computers with CGI capabilities — so I’m fascinated by the Metaverse, and excited to bring our culture into the landscape,” says Tony Hawk.

In 1999, the most recognized skateboarder in the world opened a franchise, “Tony Hawk Pro Skater.” By today, it generated over $1.4 billion in sales. This is one of The Sandbox’s biggest celebrity partnerships. Previously, the company partnered with American rapper Snoop Dogg, Gucci, Ledger, and others.

“We’re always looking to bring the best talents to the Metaverse, we provide a platform of entertainment fuelled by the community,” says The Sandbox.
