Entrepreneur and angel investor Yat Siu. Austrian-born and -raised, he left Vienna in 1996 to found Hong Kong Cybercity, the region's first free web page and email provider. Before moving to Hong Kong, he worked his first job at Atari in Germany before moving on to Lexicor, where he held the positions of director and head of the U.S. East Coast division. He founded Outblaze in the late 1990s, and in 2009 IBM purchased it. Outblaze is now a part of IBM's LotusLive family of products.
He established Animoca, one of the biggest apps in the world for publishers and developers, in Hong Kong in 2011. The developer is responsible for popular programs like Cinderella Cafe and Pretty Pet Salon, which was one of Apple’s top apps of 2011. The venture capital firms Intel Capital and IDG-Accel provided Animoca with early funding, which it used to build and release hundreds of apps for both the Android and iOS platforms.
In 2014, Siu established Animoca Brands, a business that was spun off from Animoca’s licensing and publishing divisions. It combines artificial intelligence and blockchain technology to produce and distribute smartphone apps like The Sandbox, and it is the official distributor of CryptoKitties in China.
Yat Siu had a successful career and was recognized for his services to business and society by the World Economic Forum as a “Global Leader of Tomorrow” and a “Young Global Leader,” among other honors.

On August 24, Yat Siu, the executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands and a pioneer of the open metaverse, attended Coinfest Asia.
