What is an API?

Short for application programming interface, API serves as an interface between the computer and applications or two different pieces of software. Unlike the user interface, users other than programmers do not see it or interact with it. There are also web APIs used to facilitate the connection between two devices on the internet.

Understanding API

APIs may be designed for a specific software or can provide interoperability among various systems. There are different types of APIs, such as web APIs that allow communication between computers connected to the internet and remote APIs that allow developers access to remote resources.
