The Sandbox has announced a partnership with ZeptoLab, the global game developer behind the highly popular puzzle video game, Cut the Rope, to onboard the gaming company’s community to web3.
ZeptoLab has purchased LAND in The Sandbox to build a themed virtual cafe based on Cut the Rope. In ZeptoLab’s new metaverse space, players will be able to manage the Om Nom Cafe in the city of Nomville, inspired by the video game’s core character—a green monster named Om Nom.
In addition, ZeptoLab and The Sandbox will develop digital collectibles around characters, such as the Nommies from Cut the Rope 2 and the Ancestors from Cut the Rope: Time Travel, as well as accessories and equipment to customize avatars.
“We are thrilled to welcome ZeptoLab to The Sandbox,” COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox Sebastien Borget said in a statement. “I look forward to seeing all the creations the Cut the Rope community will build in the metaverse using collectible digital items they can truly own.”
After the success of Cut the Rope series, which has more than 1.6 billion downloads and is now a part of the ZeptoLab Green, ZeptoLab released C.A.T.S.: Crash Arena Turbo Stars, King of Thieves, and Bullet Echo, massive multiplayer mobile titles with more than 500 million combined downloads so far. ZeptoLab games can be enjoyed on iOS and Android.
A subsidiary of Animoca Brands, The Sandbox has partnered with major IPs and brands, including Warner Music Group, Playboy, Gucci Vault, Steve Aoki, and more. Building on the existing The Sandbox IP that has more than 40 million global installs on mobile, The Sandbox metaverse offers players, creators, and brand partners a decentralized platform to create immersive 3D worlds and game experiences.
