One of the biggest blockchain gaming names, Animoca Brands, has extended the strategic partnership with Japanese crypto exchange Coincheck to create user experiences in the metaverse.

The collaboration between the two companies began in 2020. In the enhanced partnership, Animoca Brands will be in charge of intellectual property (IP), and Coincheck will be responsible for the distribution and development of the community in the Japanese market.

Since its launch in 2012, Coincheck has been entirely Bitcoin-focused. However, last year, the company launched an NFT marketplace, “Coincheck NFT (β version).” The platform will support NFT projects from Animoca Brands’ partner companies.

In January, Coincheck began developing the metaverse city “Oasis TOKYO” in The Sandbox metaverse. While in May, Coincheck bought Otherdeed NFTs, which represent digital land, and began developing the new metaverse city “Oasis MARS” in Otherside.

Yat Siu, the CEO of Animoca Brands, said that the collaboration helps bring top-notch NFT, metaverse, and gaming projects to the Japanese market.

“As Japan’s leading crypto asset and NFT exchange, Coincheck is an extremely important strategic partner for Animoca Brands. We have built up a deep and trusted relationship through several open metaverse projects and we look forward to working together even more closely in the future,”

Siu added.
