“I regret the good ideas I pursued, because they were dilutive/distracting to the great ideas.”
Michael Saylor owes his software company’s ability to compete with Apple, Microsoft, and other renowned seven stocks to the world’s largest cryptocurrency. MicroStrategy’s stock increased by 246% in 2023 and by 6% in November, when it was trading at around $492 per share.
Saylor said that his business started looking for a “high-growth digital monopoly” to invest in and determined that the most promising asset was bitcoin. “We realized bitcoin is like a high-tech dominant digital network growing at 40% or 50% a year, and so we bought it,” he explained. “It’s kept growing at 40% to 50% a year, and now we’re using our balance sheet to grow the company.”
