Wong received a bachelor’s degree in political economy of industrial societies from the University of California, Berkley in 2007. She had previously held licenses from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority for the Series 7 and Series 63. Additionally, Wong serves on the boards of the California Alternative Investments Association and the Seattle Alternative Investment Association.
Dan Morehead, a former bond trader for Goldman Sachs, founded Pantera Capital, a hedge firm that specializes in overseeing cryptocurrency holdings. The business introduced the first Bitcoin fund in the US in 2013. According to the company, the Pantera Bitcoin Fund has increased by 80,200% since its inception. The business also made investments in over 90 blockchain startups and 95 early-stage token deals in addition to the Bitcoin fund.
According to new predictions from Pantera Capital, the price of Bitcoin will rise to $35,000 before the 2024 halving and then to $148,000 USD after that. Pantera Capital expounded on the idea of a “positive black swan event” within the framework of blockchain technology in a recent disclosure.
The phrase “black swan” has historically been used to describe unforeseen circumstances that might have dire repercussions. Pantera Capital, however, outlines the advantages that such occurrences may have for the blockchain community. They note that the number of people using blockchain-related services has quadrupled every year, indicating a quick uptake and integration of blockchain technology across a range of sectors.
Wong is anticipated to carry on working for Pantera Capital and speaking up for the cryptocurrency sector. Beginning in 2022, Pantera Capital’s Bitcoin Feeder Fund, which enables investors to indirectly participate in the Pantera Bitcoin Fund, reached $63.7 million in contributions from 153 investors. Due to this, investors can increase their equity every day without having to buy and store Bitcoin themselves.
Along with multi-stage venture capital stock, the hedge fund continues to receive investments on illiquid venture capital assets, such as tokens in their early stages. Furthermore, it still accepts movable money like Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
The company intends to advance the investments to $1 billion in 2022 in support of a new venture fund after raising $600 million in 2021. The new fund will invest in project tokens and corporate equity. In addition, the company intends to provide venture-only investment options to investors who simply want equity exposure.
