David Bowie’s Unreleased Version of “Let’s Dance” to Debut as Music NFT on Gala Music

Gala Music, a subsidiary of the web3 startup Gala Games, has revealed a new project dedicated to the legendary musician David Bowie to bring music and NFTs together. As part of a limited edition NFT collection, Gala Music has partnered with music producer Larry Dvoskin and publisher Warner Chappell Music to launch an unreleased version of David Bowie’s popular 1983 track “Let’s Dance.”
Gala Music will release 3,003 NFTs that feature Bowie-inspired artwork and provide access to a never-before-heard version of “Let’s Dance,” which was produced by Larry Dvoskin and David Bowie in 2002.
The announcement was made on March 6, and the NFT collection featuring the legendary musician’s song will be released on April 14—the day that marks the 40th anniversary of the song’s original debut. The release of the song’s new version will offer fans a unique opportunity to own a piece of music history.
The NFTs will be on sale on a “pay-what-you-wish” basis, allowing buyers to pay any amount they choose. The proceeds from the sale will go to MusiCares, a charity that provides health and human services to members of the music community.
David Bowie already has a presence in web3. In September, the estate of David Bowie launched an NFT collection called “Bowie On The Blockchain” to honor the singer’s career and impact on music, gender roles, live performance, and digital distribution. The collection featured Bowie-inspired artworks created by nine crypto artists, including FEWOCiOUS, who designed a sculpture wearing an original Bowie outfit.
The iconic singer launched BowieWorld in the late 90s, a virtual platform that allowed him to connect with fans globally. Recently, the platform made a comeback with technological advancements and an exclusive NFT collection devoted to the musician.
