Mustafa Suleyman is a serial tech entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of Inflection AI, an AI-first company redefining the relationship between humans and computers.
He previously worked at Google as VP of AI Products and AI Policy. Before that he co-founded DeepMind, which was bought by Google in 2014. As Head of Applied AI, he contributed to the team’s major successes in AI research and applications for over 10 years. During his time at DeepMind he also contributed to numerous significant research publications.

In addition to receiving the Silicon Valley Visionary Award every year, he is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and a member of the board of The Economist.
2023
In January 2022, Suleyman departed from Google and became a venture partner at Greylock Partners. In March of the same year, he and Reid Hoffman of Greylock co-founded Inflection AI, a new AI lab. Recruiting former employees from Google and Meta, the firm was created with the intention of using “AI to help humans ‘talk’ to computers,” and it garnered $225 million in its initial funding round.
Inflection AI introduced “Pi,” a chatbot for personal intelligence, in 2023. The bot appears to learn about its users over time and “remembers” previous exchanges. Suleyman states that Pi’s long-term objective is to function as a virtual “Chief of Staff,” with the first design concentrated on posing queries, engaging in discussion, and providing emotional support to users.
The Coming Wave, Technology, Power and the 21st Century’s Greatest Dilemma, written by Suleyman and researcher Michael Bhaskar, was published in September 2023. It covers the threats posed by unrestricted AI and synthetic biology technologies, their near-impossibility to contain, and potential countermeasures. The Financial Times Business Book of the Year Award for 2023 shortlisted it.
Amazon has launched its AI chatbot, “Q,” for business applications at the Re:invent conference. Q assists users in various business intelligence, programming, and configuration use cases, providing support for troubleshooting issues, document citations, and automatically making source code changes. It can connect to over 40 enterprise systems and generate content. A preview version is available for free, with tiers priced at $20 per person per month.
