Kevin Scott is executive vice president and chief technology officer of Microsoft and has held executive and engineering positions at LinkedIn and Google. He built and led the technology team of pioneering mobile advertising startup AdMob, which was acquired by Google in 2010. He has received a Google Founder’s Award, an Intel PhD Fellowship, and an ACM Recognition of Service Award. He is an adviser to several Silicon Valley start-ups, an active angel investor, the founder of the nonprofit organization Behind the Tech, the host of the Behind the Tech podcast, and an emeritus trustee of the Anita Borg Institute.

Kevin Scott is Microsoft’s chief technical officer and executive vice president of artificial intelligence. He is a creative leader who is spearheading Microsoft’s technological agenda and is enthusiastic about developing solutions that enhance everyone’s quality of life. Scott has worked in academia and business for 20 years as a researcher, engineer, and leader in the technology field.

He guided LinkedIn through an IPO and six years of explosive growth as senior vice president of engineering and operations before joining Microsoft. There, he also contributed to the creation of the company’s technology and engineering teams.

In a previous role, he was in charge of Google’s mobile advertisements engineering, which included integrating the company’s $750 million acquisition of AdMob. Scott oversaw engineering and operations for AdMob, the top mobile monetization platform in the world. Prior to joining AdMob, Scott was a key member of Google’s search and advertisements engineering leadership team and contributed to the company’s initial initiatives to set up remote engineering centers.

Scott is the host of the Behind the Tech podcast, where he speaks with industry pioneers who have made significant contributions to technology. In addition, he is the author of “Reprogramming the American Dream,” a book that investigates how artificial intelligence may be utilized in a practical way to benefit everyone, not just the wealthy.

Ignite is launching significant advancements across a fleet of datacenters, which include two new processors created by Microsoft and the most recent AI-optimized silicon from industry partners.

  • Microsoft Azure Maia is an AI Accelerator chip that can be used with Bing, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and OpenAI models to do cloud-based training and inferencing.
  • A cloud-native Microsoft Azure Cobalt chip is designed for general-purpose applications and is tuned for cost-effectiveness, performance, and power economy.

Furthermore, Microsoft is launching Azure Boost, a technology that transfers networking and storage functions off host servers and onto dedicated hardware and software, resulting in quicker performance.
