Nike and Epic Games have introduced the gaming experience “Airphoria” in Fortnite, which merges sports, gaming, and culture. By transcending physical boundaries and uniting Nike’s renowned Air Max brand with the immersive universe of Fortnite, Airphoria sets the stage for a future of interactive sports experiences.
The gaming experience was teased on Nike’s Twitter last week.
Airphoria combines Air Max design elements with the Fortnite’s evolving world. Powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), it lets players explore an intricately crafted Air Max-themed universe. Fans can engage with Air Max sneakers as they embark on the ultimate sneaker hunt.
The gaming experience showcases five iconic Air Max “Grails” (Air Max 1 OG, Air Max 97, Air Max TW, Air Max Scorpion, and Air Max Pulse) suspended above the city. These sneakers symbolize significant milestones in Air Max’s history, allowing the city to exist in the imaginative and creative “Air State.”
As part of the Airphoria launch, Fortnite players can purchase the outfits worn by the main characters, Airie and Maxxed Out Max, from the Fortnite Item Shop. These outfits are part of the Airphoria Pack, which includes the Pure Sole Boombox and Maxx Stacks Back Blings. A limited Airphoria-inspired collection is also available on Nike.com in North America, bridging the virtual world of Airphoria in Fortnite with Nike Air Max.
“Nike is one of the first brands to use Epic Games’ Unreal Editor for Fortnite to build Airphoria, paving the way for a continued partnership that will further unlock the future of gaming,”said Ron Faris, VP/GM of Nike Virtual Studios.
Fortnite has about 243 million users worldwide.
You can explore the Airphoria island until June 27 at 8 pm ET, through Fortnite Discover or by using the island code 2118-5342-7190.
