Meta has announced it will integrate the support of NFTs into Instagram.
The platform is going to support NFTs based on Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and Flow blockchains.
Meta is not planning to charge users for posting their crypto art. In January 2022, Twitter introduced a feature that allows users to put their NFTs as profile pictures on the social media platform. The feature was only available to the users paying $2.99 a month for the Twitter Blue service.
To start, Instagram will launch the feature in the U.S. only. The updates on support in other countries are supposed to come following. In order to post one’s NFT on the gram, the users need to add their wallets to the social media platform. This way, the individuals can prove the ownership of their non-fungible tokens.
Moreover, there is going to be a possibility to tag the creator of the NFT on Instagram.
In the future, Meta is also aiming to implement minting systems within the platform and create group membership options dedicated to NFTs.
