Hennessy taps Friends With Benefits DAO to release an NFT collection
In Brief
Hennessy and Friends With Benefits DAO launched an NFT collection
Holders will get access to exclusive IRL locations, which make part of the “Cafè 11” initiative
Cognac maker Hennessy launches an NFT collection developed in partnership with Friends With Benefits DAO.
LVMH’s Maison Hennessy aims to blend its cultural heritage and Web3. The company tapped New York-based artist John P. Dessereau to design the NFT collection and Friends With Benefits DAO to implement it.
The artworks are in a colorful style, showing drinks as well as iconic buildings. they all have one thing in common: They celebrate Hennessy’s legacy. Even the amount of NFTs issued is symbolic: The company issued 1765 non-fungible tokens to honor the brand’s founding year.
The NFTs will grant holders access to Hennessy’s artistic space dubbed “Café 11.” The innovative format gets inspiration from the 1920s Paris-based free-thinking café society. Café 11 will function as a social club and will offer curated spaces for meetings where individuals can share and exchange.
Hennessy wants to surprise NFT holders, so the exclusive IRL locations will be changing. For instance, the inauguration event will take place during Art Basel Miami on December 1. The iconic location will offer live music, unique cultural events and exhibitions, culinary lessons, and even cognac tastings.
The full program of Café 11 will be released in December.
At Hennessy, we believe in supporting avant-garde creations. We also believe in the power of communities: embracing local cultures always has been at the heart of our process for more than 250 years. Like Hennessy, FWB has a deep-rooted passion for art and culture. And, like Hennessy, FWB brings together a vibrant community of diverse, inspiring creatives from every horizon: Hennessy and FWB are shaping a world of possibilities both digitally and IRL,” said the President and CEO of Hennessy, Laurent Boillot.
It’s worth noting that the initiative is not Maison Hennessy’s first step into the Web3 space. In September this year, the company partnered with the spirits NFT marketplace BlockBar to auction limited-edition NFTs of a rare Hennessy Paradis Golden Edition cognac blend produced in 1979.
