GAP and DressX bring hoodies into the metaverse
In Brief
GAP partnered with DressX to bring hoodies into the Metaverse
The physical and AR hoodies go for 50 Tezos each
Digital fashion marketplace DressX partners with American brand GAP to bring sports clothes into the metaverse.
Earlier this year, GAP launched a “logo remix” challenge, inviting users to reimagine the brand’s original logo. At the beginning of October, the apparel company chose three winners and placed their logos on its IRL hoodies. Following this, Gap tapped DressX to “transfer” the physical pieces into the Metaverse, the two issued limited-edition augmented reality 3D hoodies.
The hoodies are now available for purchase as NFTs. The collection features three different designs, and each one goes for 50 Tezos (approximately $72 at the time of writing).
NFT holders can redeem the tokens for physical limited-edition hoodies through December 31. In addition to the IRL merch, every hoodie NFT grants holders access to an AR filter of the item, available on the DressX app.
It’s worth noting that the initiative is not GAP’s first NFT drop. In June this year, the brand auctioned an NFT of a redeemable physical denim hand-painted jacket released in partnership with artist Demit Omphroy. The item reached the final bid of 840 Tezos. GAP also collaborated with the virtual game Dogamí and L’Officiel USA for a pet-themed Metaverse issue of the fashion magazine.
