FC Porto to join the Metaverse

FC Porto has announced a strategic partnership with Upland. The legendary Portuguese football club will enter the Metaverse and build the first-ever virtual stadium.

Upland is a Metaverse platform mapped to the real world, where users can buy, sell, and trade digital properties.

The companies aim to build the future of fandom in the virtual world, empowering fans to participate in new experiences. As the football club plans to construct the city of Porto and the Estádio do Dragão football stadium in the Metaverse, users are invited to visit these virtual locations. The experience will also include engaging games, which will allow users to collect NFTs of their favorite football club.

According to the press release, FC Porto plans to roll out the first part of the project during the 2022–23 season.

“Upland is designed to give football fans more to do with their NFTs. Because FC Porto thinks and executes so strongly around innovative products, we can fully realize the functionality and utility of Legits—what our community calls NFTs—and empower users to enjoy unique experiences that support and demonstrate their fandom in completely new ways,” said Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Upland Idan Zuckerman.

Upland is available on the Web, iOS, and Android, for users all over the world.
