The Notorious B.I.G’s Christopher Wallace Estate is releasing an NFT drop in memory of the legendary rapper. Crypto platform OneOf has revealed information about the exclusive Sky’s the Limit: The Notorious B.I.G. NFT Collection, which will launch on July 26. Fans can already sign up for an allow list.
“We named this collection ‘Sky’s The Limit’ because we believe this is a watershed moment in NFTs where seminal artists like Biggie and their truest fans can drive culture and drive value together,” said Joshua James, co-founder of OneOf. “We’re thrilled to work with The Christopher Wallace Estate to honor Biggie’s enduring legacy, in web3 and beyond, and we have some amazing surprises for NFT holders along the way.”
The collection will feature 3D NFT characters — PFPs, inspired by the rapper’s lifestyle and song lyrics. In addition, holders will be able to collectively license Biggie’s most famous freestyle audio recording. The freestyle dates back to when Biggie was 17, rapping on a street corner in Brooklyn, New York. Before now, the audio was never officially released or made available to other artists. If the collective and estate approve, musicians can use the recording in their music, which can be issued along with The Notorious B.I.G.’s credit.
Holders of Biggie’s NFTs will also receive early access to The Brook, a hip-hop-themed Metaverse representing the rapper’s home – Brooklyn.
It’s not the first time that OneOf has released an NFT drop related to the hip-hop legend. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of Biggie’s death, the rapper’s estate partnered with the platform to launch an NFT collection in March 2022.
