Revolut Launches Business Banking in Australia, Seeks a Banking License

British digital bank Revolut is seeking a banking license in Australia to provide consumers with more “regulatory certainty” than a higher regulatory standard.
Revolut has launched international payments-based business accounts for Australia-based clients. Revolut is now reportedly working to secure a banking license in the land down under.
The London-based firm offers various fiat payment services for European and Australian clients. It also provides crypto services, including the trading and buying of a number of crypto assets, such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ripple (XRP), and Ether (ETH). Crypto staking is also available in certain regions.
In an interview with The Australian, CEO of Revolut Matt Baxby expressed the company’s primary objective of offering an all-in-one app or platform for individuals to effectively manage their entire financial lives. Moreover, obtaining a banking license is a crucial component of this goal, as it would instill confidence in consumers and allow for the development of sought-after products. Baxby emphasized that obtaining the banking license is still a significant part of Revolut’s overall plans, and they are actively progressing towards that objective.
Revolut Australia enabled up to 75,000 AUD ($49,950) worth of foreign currency exchange per month for multicurrency business accounts this week.
Revolut Business has observed a significant demand for Australian small to medium enterprises for international payment solutions, according to James Gibson, the general manager. Bank has over 100,000 business customers in Europe.
In addition to traditional financial services such as money transfers, Australian crypto, stock, and commodity investing accounts also offer access to cryptos, stocks, and commodities.
