Playboy arrives in The Sandbox’s Metaverse
Legendary men’s magazine Playboy has launched the “MetaMansion” experience in The Sandbox.
It will include gaming, programmed events, and NFT releases, with the latter featuring content from the magazine’s library.
Playboy entered the Web3 space in the summer of 2021. The company issued its genesis NFT collection in partnership with artist Slimesunday. Dubbed “Liquid Summer,” it sold out in less than three minutes.
In October 2021, the brand issued an NFT collection called “Playboy Rabbitars.” Its holders will grant access to exclusive experiences in The Sandbox’s Playboy area. The Sandbox LAND owners will also be able to unlock the features.
“Playboy is emblematic for its charm, lifestyle, and entertainment content that has transcended generations and that has already stepped into Web3 with early success. We’re pleased to bring its rich archive of content into the Metaverse and enable true fans to become virtual neighbors of this iconic brand during a future upcoming LAND sale in Q3 2022,” says the COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget.
The Sandbox is one of the major decentralized universes on the blockchain. The company has partnered with over 200 brands and IPs, including Gucci, Adidas, Ledger, Warner Music Group, Snoop Dogg, World of Women, and others. As a side note, Playboy is not the only editorial that stepped into the Metaverse – American magazine TIME also has a virtual land within The Sandbox.
