The Sandbox Alpha Season 3 is live, offers new features for the metaverse
Pioneer metaverse platform The Sandbox‘s newest event, Alpha Season 3, has just started. The multi-week play-to-earn event premiered on August 24.
This will be the event’s third edition, including new features and experiences for fans from all over the world to enjoy. The Alpha Season events allow players to get the first experience in The Sandbox’s latest virtual worlds.
The updates and new features for Season 3 are the following:
Better playable experiences
The season will feature over 90 playable metaverses, which will be released over the course of ten weeks. Both solo and multiplayer modes will be available to users. Twenty-seven out of the 90 metaverses will include brand collaborations with famous names, such as Snoop Dogg, The Walking Dead, Bored Ape Yacht Club, World of Women, and more.
Playable avatars from NFTs
Players who own NFTs from 13 popular collections will be able to use their digital collectibles as their avatars in-game. Collections include Bored Ape Yacht Club, Moonbirds, World of Women, Cool Cats, Clone X, People of Crypto, Doggies, and others.
Prizes
The Sandbox team presents new prizes for players holding The Sandbox NFTs. The rewards include SAND tokens, the platform’s native cryptocurrency. LAND owners and avatar holders will also receive SAND rewards upon completing a level.
Leaderboard rewards
The top-ranked players on the leaderboard will receive SAND tokens. There will be a total of 1.5 million SAND tokens awarded to players. Rankings will depend on Ethos Points that players can earn by completing quests.
Addition of KYC
This Season will introduce a KYC (Know Your Customer) system. The aim is to prevent users from multi-accounting and cheating as the company seeks to promote a fair and safe gaming environment within the metaverse.
Since The Sandbox is still an ongoing development project, the Alpha Season event attracts a new number of users to The Sandbox’s open metaverse. Developers also have the opportunity to look at and fix any glitches or problems the ecosystem may have.
Players can explore a wide range of virtual worlds in Alpha Season 3, along with many social hubs for players to interact, play-to-earn games, and earn rewards for NFT, avatar, and land owners.
