As she did on May 15, Holly Herndon offered some guidance to musicians on how the music business should adapt to AI’s numerous advances. She advised against giving up the rights to one’s voice for programs that may utilize it for generative AI, at least not immediately away. Herndon clarified that the new technology is vulnerable to manipulation because of the lack of knowledge surrounding it. “Artists, it is a good idea not to sign any contract regarding usage of your voice in an AI context,” the author stated.

The artificial intelligence projects Holly Herndon has worked on include “Holly+,” a virtual “AI twin” that Herndon and her boyfriend Matt Dryhurst created, and “Spawn,” a “AI baby” that helped create her 2019 album Proto.
