Justin David Blau, also known as 3LAU (pronounced “Blau”) on stage, is an American producer and DJ of electronic dance music. 3LAU, who was raised in New York and Las Vegas, quit his finance studies at Washington University in St. Louis. He has collaborated with gamer Ninja and Girls’ Generation’s HYO, and created original songs including “How You Love Me,” “Is It Love,” “Fire,” “On My Mind,” and “Hot Water.” He has also remixed songs for Shawn Mendes, Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Katy Perry. In addition, 3LAU does a lot of international touring and has performed at events including Electric Zoo, EDC Vegas, Lollapalooza, and Life Is Beautiful.
A controversy has been created in the cryptocurrency community by 3LAU’s abrupt withdrawal from the decentralized social media network Friend.tech. The DJ emphasized worries about potential regulatory hazards associated with the platform as he explained the decision.
3LAU stated in an X (formerly Twitter) discussion on September 15 that he left Friend.tech after “understanding more of the risks.” The automated market maker (AMM), which permits the selling of user keys—previously known as shares—on the platform, was the subject of 3LAU’s primary concern, he said. According to him, a social media platform function like that falls into a legal murky area and may present problems for users in the future.
