NYX Cosmetics creates an NFT collection to celebrate Pride Month
NYX Cosmetics and People of Crypto Lab partnered to celebrate Pride Month. The companies will release a special NFT collection of avatars to be used in The Sandbox as well as launching a hub in the Metaverse.
People of Crypto is a creative and innovative lab that embraces diversity in Web3. Its mission is to build a “metaversal blueprint for inclusion,” ensuring the advancement of black and brown women, LGBTQIA+, differently-abled, and people of color.
NYX, a professional cosmetics brand, will become the first beauty company to work in Web3. NYX and People of Crypto aim to show that makeup is genderless by creating avatars with makeup looks for every group represented in the Progress Pride flag.
The NFT collection will feature 8,430 avatars with a variety of traits. These include sexual orientation, gender identification, 36 skin shades and every ethnicity, different abilities, and cultural identifiers (like the hijab).
“As someone who has had to hide my real identity, I want to help build Web3 as a place that allows marginalized communities to feel represented and not left behind. We are proud to have NYX Cosmetics as a partner that shares our mission,” said Akbar Hamid, the co-founder of POC Lab.
The avatar minting starts on June 17. The Sandbox educational hub will be available during the “Belonging Week” starting from June 24.
NYX will donate 100% of the proceeds to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
