Nexus Layer 1 Launches Testnet III, Advancing Decentralized Supercomputing Infrastructure For AI Era

In Brief

Testnet III brings Nexus closer to universal accessibility by enabling anyone with a browser to contribute compute power and help scale verifiable, decentralized infrastructure.

Nexus Layer 1 Launches Testnet III, Advancing Decentralized Supercomputing Infrastructure For AI Era

Decentralized supercomputing network Nexus Layer 1 has initiated the launch of Testnet III, representing a further advancement toward creating a universally accessible Layer 1 infrastructure designed for the AI era. The system requires no specialized equipment or advanced technical skills—only a web browser and user participation.

Through the Nexus operating system, it is now possible to quickly generate a wallet, begin contributing computing resources to the onchain network, and receive incentives in return. Engagement in this phase supports the testing of infrastructure while also playing a role in establishing a foundation for verifiable computation. Each computing task executed and node integrated helps expand the reach and strength of verifiable compute across the global network, increasing its overall capability with every new connection.

Testnet III is being introduced in a phased rollout to prioritize system stability and performance. On June 23rd, activation will begin in select regions including the United States, Vietnam, Nigeria, Russia, India, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, and both Hong Kong SAR and Mainland China. These areas were chosen based on their high engagement during the Devnet stage. The global rollout will continue on June 24th.

This phase of testing will remain active until the anticipated launch of the Nexus Mainnet in the third quarter. In contrast to earlier testnets, Testnet III offers extended participation windows across all regions, allowing contributors more time to engage with the decentralized supercomputing infrastructure and receive associated rewards. The decision to implement a staggered launch is intended to ensure a consistent and optimized experience for all users from the outset.

Testnet III introduces the ability to connect social accounts, including Twitter and Discord, to the Nexus identity layer. This enhancement brings an added dimension of authenticity and continuity, allowing network participation to extend beyond a temporary wallet address. Contributors gain a more persistent and reputational presence within the system.

For developers and users, this identity integration supports work portability and reputation-building. It also enables easier discovery and collaboration, as linked profiles make it simpler to identify aligned participants, observe experienced users, and engage with active contributors. The network infrastructure is supported not only by distributed computation but also by the individuals driving it.

For those requiring enhanced speed and control, the newly introduced one-line CLI login offers a streamlined entry point. This allows users to begin contributing immediately by entering a single command—eliminating the need for multiple setup steps, SDKs, or API keys. The result is a direct, efficient method of engagement via terminal access.

This also aligns the protocol with established open-source standards by emphasizing transparency, automation, and user control. Users have the flexibility to begin with minimal setup and progress toward more complex, customized computational tasks, expanding their role in the network according to their own capabilities and interests.

What Is Nexus?

Nexus is developing a blockchain architecture specifically engineered for the demands of the AI era. At its foundation, the system functions as a global supercomputer—an interconnected network that increases in performance as more nodes participate. Each node operates a zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM), collectively producing a single cryptographic artifact known as the Universal Proof.

This proof captures the entire state and history of the blockchain in a compact format. Its small size allows it to be verified on virtually any device, introducing a fundamentally new approach to blockchain design and validation.

This blockchain model is being constructed for environments where AI agents coordinate contracts, process payments, and deliver services at global scale. Trust is ensured through zero-knowledge proofs, computational power is supplied by a decentralized network, and coherence is maintained through the generation of a single verifiable proof.

The outcome is an infrastructure that aligns with the speed, scale, and operational complexity required by advanced AI-driven systems.
