Indian media and entertainment conglomerate Shemaroo Entertainment and The Sandbox have announced new a partnership to create Bollywood themed experiences for its cultural hub called “BharatBox”, featuring known artists and brands from the Indian entertainment industry.
The Sandbox is a decentralized, community-driven platform, where creators can make voxel assets and gaming experiences and monetize them on the blockchain.
“We at BharatBox are incredibly excited to collaborate with a legacy brand like Shemaroo,” said BharatBox’s CEO, Karan Keswani. “This partnership is not just about bringing Bollywood to the metaverse but celebrating the rich cinematic history of India in a space that’s redefining the future. Merging traditional cinematic masterpieces with the limitless potential of the digital realm signifies the dawn of a new era for Bollywood enthusiasts globally.
This venture aims to reshape the entertainment landscape by infusing iconic Bollywood Intellectual Properties (IPs) like Jab We Met, The Great Gambler, Disco Dancer, Khuda Gawah, Blue, 22 Yards, and more. It will further offer fans a unique virtual engagement with their beloved characters.
Shemaroo is currently undertaking a digital journey aimed at erasing the boundaries between reel-life entertainment and real-life experiences.
Shemaroo’s venture into the metaverse is not confined to mere virtual presence. The company is making strides in the world of Digital Collectibles and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) to explore the possibilities of blockchain-based assets within the metaverse.
Key Features of the BharatBox Metaverse Experience
The heart of BharatBox, a central land parcel on The Sandbox, will now feature Bollywood movie themed experiences. This space will host activities ranging from film launches and award ceremonies to live concerts and screenings, ensuring continuous engagement for users.

Gaming zones inspired by Bollywood classics will include a Retro Night Club (inspired by Disco Dancer), a Gaming Club (inspired by The Great Gambler), an Underwater Treasure Hunt (based on Blue), a Cricket Game (from 22 Yards), a Horse-riding (Rescue) Quest (Khuda Gawah themed), a Café for Socializing (Jab We Met), and an Action Game (Tango Charlie).
