How Twitter user uses generative AI to create time travel tales
In Brief
How Stable Diffusion could allow you to simulate time travel
There’s a lot of talk about AI these days and how it’s going to change the world as we know it. But there’s one particular aspect of AI that’s often overlooked: its potential to change the way we think about time. Twitter user Stelfie the Time Traveller has been using generative AI to create time travel tales and has become quite popular for it. People are fascinated by the idea of someone being able to travel through time, and Stelfie has been able to provide them with some interesting stories.
Since then, “Stelfie” has been posting more time travel tales, each one more interesting than the last. In one story, the time traveler goes back to ancient Greece and meets Aristotle. In another, the time traveler goes to the court of King Henry VIII and encounters Anne Boleyn. Stelfie hunted a mammoth during the Ice Age, sailed with Christopher Columbus, toured ancient Egypt, and posed for a photo next to a Trojan Horse. He also spent time with Leonardo da Vinci.
Each of these stories is made more believable by the inclusion of a photorealistic persona that Stelfie has created using Stable Diffusion and precise adjustment. This persona is able to interact with people from different eras and has pictures to prove it.
An unnamed artist went into great depth about some of the methods it used to produce images. Additionally, time travel simulation may be the newest form of AI entertainment. As Stelfie continues to create time travel tales, more and more people are becoming interested in the possibilities of SD time travel. Who knows, maybe one day, someone will actually be able to travel through time, but until then, generated imagery may be the closest we can get to the past.
