Deadfellaz Expands NFT Universe with Death Touch, Partnering with Skale Labs for a Gas-Free Trading Card Game
In Brief
Skale Labs and DFZ Labs are collaborating on a mobile-first trading card game, Death Touch, aimed at web3 and traditional gamers, following the success of Deadfellaz NFT series.
Skale Labs and DFZ Labs, the developers of the well-known Deadfellaz NFT series, have partnered to release a brand-new trading card game called Death Touch. This mobile-first game, which will be created on Skale’s gas-free blockchain and is anticipated to launch in the first quarter of 2025, is intended to appeal to both web3 fans and conventional gamers.
When co-founders Psych and Betty introduced the Deadfellaz collection on Ethereum in 2021, they immediately gained a passionate audience known as the “Horde.” Deadfellaz, which stands out for its inventive gamification and captivating storyline, has amassed a devoted fan base of over 6,000 collectors, including celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Steve Aoki, Bill Murray, and Alexis Ohanian.
An Accessibility Strategy Focused on Mobile
Although Death Touch’s specifications are yet unknown, DFZ Labs has pledged to create the game with mobile devices in mind, which aligns with its goal of fusing blockchain with widely accessible gaming. The free-to-play (F2P) model is supported by utilizing Skale’s gas-free blockchain, which eliminates conventional blockchain transaction fees and produces a smooth user experience that reduces barriers for casual gamers.
Using Skale to Create a Wider Gaming Ecosystem
With more than 150 titles now supported, Skale Labs has emerged as a key participant in the blockchain gaming market. This alliance with DFZ Labs expands Skale’s presence in the web3 gaming sector and builds on previous partnerships, such as one with Moxy, the platform developed by Atari founder Nolan Bushnell.
Skale’s chief marketing and growth officer, Andrew Saunders, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and pointed out that Death Touch marks a significant milestone in both his personal and professional life. “I’m excited to see this community continue to innovate within Skale’s ecosystem, as Deadfellaz was my first NFT,” he said.
Connecting Blockchain and Conventional Gamers
By combining the accessibility of mobile gaming with blockchain, the Death Touch game seeks to engage both web2 and web3 audiences. DFZ Labs and Skale Labs want to make blockchain gaming more accessible by providing a gas-free experience on Skale, particularly for those who are new to web3.
The value of the gas-free infrastructure was underlined by Deadfellaz co-founder Psych, who said, “Our community has always valued immersive storytelling and innovative gameplay. We can reach more players—both casual and experienced web3 gamers—with Skale’s help.”
DFZ Labs and Skale Labs have an intriguing partnership with the imminent release of Death Touch. The game, which is expected to launch in early 2025, aims to raise the bar for accessibility and participation in blockchain gaming by fusing Skale’s scalable, gas-free blockchain with Deadfellaz’s community-centered strategy.
