Can you tell us more about Space Mermaids and how it combines gaming and art?
Space Mermaids is a first-of-its-kind, play-to-mint game built on the XRPL (XRP Ledger), where players can participate without any upfront cost. By achieving high scores in the game, players earn the opportunity to mint their very own space mermaid NFT. This merges the interactive and immersive gaming experience with the creation of visually captivating art. I loved the story of Crypto Punks, how they were originally an experiment and were given away. I wanted to evolve this concept by experimenting with art and tech but through a digital game.
As the first female-led gaming project supported by the Ripple Creator Fund. How does it feel to be breaking new ground in this space?
I feel incredibly honored and grateful. It is a significant milestone not only for me but for all women in blockchain and gaming. This achievement showcases the importance of diversity and inclusion, and I hope it inspires more women to explore and excel in these fields.
What inspired you to merge gaming mechanics with fine art in the play-to-mint experience of Space Mermaids?
This stemmed from my desire to create a truly immersive and interactive form of artistic expression. I wanted to engage the audience in a way that went beyond traditional art consumption, and gaming offered the perfect medium. Allowing players to actively participate and be rewarded with unique NFTs based on their performance creates a dynamic and engaging experience for gamers and art enthusiasts.

Play-to-mint is a concept where players can earn NFTs by participating in a game or interactive experience. In Space Mermaids, players engage in the game and strive to achieve high scores. They are rewarded with the opportunity to mint a piece of my artwork as an NFT on the XRPL. Essentially, playing the game becomes a means of creating and collecting valuable digital art.

It also offers low transaction fees, making it more accessible to a wider audience, while its security and decentralized nature also provide a trustworthy and reliable infrastructure for the Space Mermaids ecosystem.
You have been successful with your previous NFT series on Ethereum. How does Space Mermaids differ from your earlier work?
Space Mermaids differs from my previous work primarily in terms of the medium and experience it offers. While my earlier NFT series on Ethereum, BYTE CANDY, focused solely on creating and selling digital art, Space Mermaids introduces a gaming element into the equation. It provides an interactive and dynamic experience where players can actively participate and earn unique NFTs through gameplay achievements. This merging of gaming and art creates a new and exciting avenue for artistic expression and engagement.
Can you share some details about the rewards and incentives players can expect from participating in Space Mermaids?
By achieving high scores and meeting specific objectives, players earn the opportunity to mint their space mermaid. These NFTs can be collected, traded, or showcased within the game’s ecosystem.
