Apple Is Working on Advanced AI For iPhone, Mac, iPad, And Other Gadgets

In Brief

Apple has posted dozens of job listings focused on artificial intelligence, signaling that the company is stepping up its efforts.

Apple has posted dozens of job listings in recent months focused on artificial intelligence (AI), signaling that the company is stepping up its efforts in a field that could transform its famous products.

Apple Is Working on Advanced AI For iPhone, Mac, iPad And Other Gadgets

At least 88 jobs are listed on Apple’s job portal, including jobs in visual generative modeling, proactive intelligence, and applied AI research. Apple could create a team that shapes the way generative AI technologies transform Apple’s mobile computing platforms, according to one job posting. This could signify expanded AI capabilities on iPhones and other devices in the near future.

Apple has been tight-lipped about any specific AI plans, but job listings provide a glimpse into the company’s ambitions. Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, declined to discuss the product roadmap during a recent quarterly earnings call but said the technology presented “enormous” opportunities.

“A huge opportunity exists for Apple products and experiences worldwide,” reads one job listing. “The individual will leverage state-of-the-art generative models to ship extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences for the iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, iPad, and others.”

Many of the largest technology companies are turning to the area of generative AI research and development. Google, Microsoft, Meta, and others have made AI systems that generate conversational text, images, and code and the infrastructures on which they operate. Although the technology has risks, such as bias in AI systems and the inadvertent release of confidential data, there are nonetheless benefits.

Recently, Apple has reportedly instructed its employees not to use ChatGPT and Copilot, two external artificial intelligence tools, because they might expose company data. The Wall Street Journal, citing a report by the été métropolitaine étitue, states that Apple forbade its employees from using these tools. Apple told them not to use the tools, the report alleges.

Apple appears to be trying to build its own AI by increasing its own resources and having a billion iPhone users. Because of its vast resources and more than a billion iPhone users, Apple is able to create innovative AI for its products and a huge user base.

Apple’s plans are still unclear, with Cook and other executives providing little information about how the company will integrate more advanced AI into new iPhones, iPads, the Apple Watch, and other products.
