Upland Partners with KABOOM! in a Web3 Initiative to Build Real-World Playgrounds
Upland, a well-known web3 Metaverse SuperApp, and the devoted Upland community have teamed up with KABOOM!, a national nonprofit organisation renowned for its goal of eradicating playspace inequality by building playgrounds, in an innovative partnership. UCC Dak, a well-known Upland player and Twitter host of “Perpetual Good in the Metaverse,” is the driving force behind this alliance. Dak has played a key role in researching ways that the web3 community can use user-generated content (UGC) and web3 technology to make positive real-world impacts through distributed fundraising, new revenue streams, expanded markets, and exposing younger generations to mission-driven organisations.
The partnership between Upland and KABOOM! is evidence of UCC Dak’s vision for web3 technology, which is based on an altruistic mindset. The sale of five user-generated map asset NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), which are modelled after the playgrounds constructed by KABOOM! across the country, will serve as the focal point of this partnership.
These NFTs are the first of their kind in Upland and were created by The Toss-Shak, a 3D design studio in Upland that specialises in user-generated 3D assets. Three devoted Upland players make up The Toss-Shak team: TossHed, Shaktikyn, and Fadi04. Together, they gave the Upland neighborhood’s remarkable playground-inspired items life:
- KABOOM! Dino: This one-of-a-kind play structure is a hub of imagination and adventure. It offers a range of play opportunities while fostering physical development and social interaction among children.
- KABOOM! Swings: An essential playground component that provides an exhilarating experience as kids soar through the air.
- KABOOM! Monkey Bars: A classic play structure offering endless opportunities for swinging, climbing, and hanging.
- KABOOM! Loop Monkey Bars: A modern twist on the classic monkey bars, challenging children even further on the playground.
- KABOOM! Crescent Monkey Bars: An innovative addition to any play area, offering an exciting twist on the classic playground favorite.
For its unwavering dedication to giving kids access to secure and motivational play environments, KABOOM! is renowned. This mission perfectly complements Upland’s main goal, which is to use technology to improve community well-being. Together, the two organisations will pool their knowledge to develop innovative, inclusive play spaces that promise a long-term effect.
As part of this partnership, KABOOM! is growing its presence by opening an office in Chicago, specifically in the Upland Metaverse as a factory and showroom. Surprisingly, these digital locations within Upland correspond exactly to physical addresses, highlighting the practical value of this alliance.
The location of the KABOOM! Showroom, which is located at 6727 South California Avenue in Upland Chicago, is identical to the site of a playground that was built in collaboration with Catalyst Schools ten years ago. In 1966, the Chicago Freedom Movement, led by Martin Luther King Jr., organised a crucial march in Marquette Park, a location of historical significance. Notably, this movement promoted equal access to parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities in addition to fair housing.
In the meantime, the KABOOM! Factory is just two blocks away from another significant playground at 10402 S Maryland Ave, Chicago, IL 60628. A playground was built by KABOOM! in the storied Pullman neighbourhood of Chicago’s South Side in 2018. This playground served as a reminder of a truce between two rival gangs aiming to put an end to violence in their neighbourhood.
“I’m a big kid at heart, and supporting KABOOM!’s mission to create play spaces for kids aligns perfectly with my core values,” says UCC Dak, a well-known figure in Upland and ardent supporter of this alliance. I’m eager to try out the dinosaur slide.
