Play2Learn Launches a Digital Fashion Contest for Young Designers
In Brief
Play2Learn announces the launch of the MetaHug Marketplace on Roblox
The initiative aims to foster the future of fashion businesses in the metaverse
Creators aged 7 to 25 can participate in the digital fashion design contest and win 30,000 $Robux.
Educational platform Play2Learn announces an upcoming experience dedicated to New York Fashion Week. Dubbed MetaHug Marketplace, the virtual space focuses on avatar creation and now on fashion as well.
Based on the Roblox metaverse, the initiative aims to foster the future of fashion businesses in the digital world. It will include a contest, several mini-games, and educational experiences. Players will have the opportunity to create their fashion lines, open boutiques, and learn how to market and sell items in virtual worlds.
The competition, open to young digital designers aged 7 to 25, is the main event of the launch. To participate and win, they must submit 2D or 3D outfits and succeed in driving sales during the two-day virtual fashion event.
Creators can submit their works starting from February 17 through February 19. Following this, the judges will select three finalists, who will have the opportunity to showcase their designs alongside well-known fashion brands. In addition, the first-place winner will receive 30,000 $Robux, Roblox’s native currency, and a year-long contract with the MetaHug Organization. Second and third places will get 15,000 and 5,000 $Robux, respectively.
MetaHug Marketplace invites creators to get inspiration from a set of metaverse-ready outfits, such as the digital versions of the upside-down dress by Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture and Schiaparelli’s lion headdress presented during Paris Fashion Week.
“By simulating reality by role-playing anything in the game, initiatives like this champion creativity, reinforce more sustainable choices, and, ultimately, support the new digital talent that will shape our future’. In the end, ‘The world’s next Coco Chanel is probably a 10-year-old girl who is currently designing avatar skins on Roblox,”
said the co-founder of MetaHug, Lian Pham.
