15 NFTs will be available in Grease Monkey Games’ Torque Drift 2 Motorsport game within the next twelve months
Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan announces an in-game NFT collection in partnership with Animoca Brand’s subsidiary Grease Monkey Games, an Australia-based multi-platform video game studio. The collaboration marks the start of a Web3-related partnership between Nissan Motor Company and Grease Monkey Games.
The companies plan to introduce an exclusive digital experience featuring licensed Nissan, Infinity, NISMO, and Datsun NFTs. Fifteen collectibles will be available in Grease Monkey Games’ Torque Drift 2 Motorsport game within the next 12 months. Torque Drift 2 is the extension of the original Torque Drift game into the Metaverse. The experience will also be integrated into Animoca Brands’ play-and-earn racing game ecosystem, REVV Motorsport.
“Nissan is synonymous with drifting and motorsport, full stop. Since drifting began, drivers have been predominantly navigating Nissans around corners sideways. We are working very hard to ensure maximum respect for this important legacy. As drifting enthusiasts ourselves, we are beyond excited to bring this iconic brand and its cars and parts to the Torque Drift 2 world,”
said the founder and managing director of Grease Monkey Games, Arran Potter.
The companies will create 3D models of such rare cars, as the 50th Anniversary edition of the 370Z, the cult-favorite Sil80, and the 180SX. Nissan will control the development of virtual automobiles to ensure each vehicle collectible is represented in its true form. Grease Monkey Games will have full access to the company’s auto models, both historical and modern. The game studio will examine the engine variants, 3D models, color choices, horsepower, and performance characteristics.
