Dubai International Financial Centre, the leading global financial center of the MEASA region, is reportedly building an “AI and web3 campus” in Dubai. According to a press release, Dubai is planning to attract over 500 artificial intelligence and web3 companies and startups by 2028.
The project is being developed under the directives of the Minister of Finance of the United Arab Emirates, the Deputy Prime Minister, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and the President of the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Within the next five years, the organizations plan to establish a dedicated campus spanning more than 100,000 square feet. The startups welcomed to the campus will be divided into several categories. One part will focus on applications of artificial intelligence and blockchain technology in the financial industry. Then, the second part will host visionary entrepreneurs, engineers, and disruptors. One of the requirements for these individuals is to have a deep passion for emerging technologies.
It’s worth noting that the DIFC’s “AI and web3 campus” will provide participants with the world’s best digital and physical infrastructure. Individuals will have access to research and development facilities and collaborative workspaces. In addition, entrepreneurs will have the possibility to participate in accelerator programs to attract, build, and scale artificial intelligence-focused startups.
The program is expected to create over 3,000 jobs by 2028. More than that, the Governor of DIFC believes the Campus will attract over $300 million in collective funds to accelerate innovation.
“The ‘Dubai AI & Web 3.0 Campus’ will act as a catalyst for growth by attracting global innovators, start-ups, venture capitalists, and industry leaders as we establish MENA’s largest ecosystem for the AI and Web 3.0 sectors. By nurturing a collaborative environment, the Dubai AI & Web 3.0 Campus will accelerate the development of future-forward technologies and empower organizations to unlock the true potential of AI and web3,” said the Chief Executive Officer at DIFC Authority, Arif Amiri.
Dubai and its authorities have previously introduced several metaverse and web-related initiatives. In July 2022, the Emirate released a Metaverse strategy that would add $4 billion to the local economy in five years. In January this year, the Dubai International Financial Centre launched the “DIFC Metaverse Platform” to attract global technology innovators.
