Zoom Launches AI Meeting Summaries

Videoconference giant Zoom has released ZoomIQ, a suite of features developed to streamline virtual collaboration using generative artificial intelligence. The new tools include “Meeting Summary” and “Team Chat Compose.”
With the new features, users can rapidly summarize meetings and draft content. These capabilities incorporate technology from ChatGPT developer OpenAI and Anthropic. The technology saves users’ time by eliminating the need for recording consulting. Individuals will not have to analyze videoconferences to pull out information.
“With this flexibility to incorporate multiple types of models, our goal is to provide the most value for our customers’ diverse needs. These models are also customizable, so they can be tuned to a given company’s vocabulary and scenarios for better performance,” writes Zoom in a blog post.
As of today, several well-known companies have introduced tools powered by generative artificial intelligence. For instance, Notion AI now features text summarization, while Otter.AI transcribes and summarizes recordings. However, differently from other AI-powered platforms, Zoom analyzes data from meetings in real time.
Zoom has also recently introduced virtual backgrounds, virtual avatars, background noise suppression, HD audio, and a chatbot called Zoom Virtual Agent.
“With the introduction of these new capabilities in Zoom IQ, an incredible generative AI assistant, teams can further enhance their productivity for everyday tasks, freeing up more time for creative work and expanding collaboration,” said the chief product officer at Zoom, Smita Hashim.
