Tether Gold Secures Accepted Spot Commodity Status In Abu Dhabi Global Market
In Brief
Tether Gold recognized by ADGM as an Accepted Spot Commodity, expanding regulated tokenized gold access in the UAE.

Financial technology company Tether announced that Tether Gold (XAU₮) has received recognition as an Accepted Spot Commodity from the Abu Dhabi Global Market, the international financial center of Abu Dhabi. The designation permits firms operating within ADGM to offer the tokenized gold product, subject to their relevant regulatory permissions.
The recognition follows sustained engagement between Tether and ADGM regulators, and provides institutions with a clearer regulatory pathway for integrating XAU₮ into their service offerings. It also reflects the ongoing evolution of digital asset policy in the UAE toward practical, institution-ready frameworks.
Each full XAU₮ token represents one troy fine ounce of gold held against a London Good Delivery bar, offering access to physical gold through a transferable, blockchain-based instrument.
The approval builds upon the Financial Services Regulatory Authority’s earlier recognition of USD₮ as an Accepted Fiat Referenced Token, broadening the range of Tether products that authorized ADGM entities may support. It illustrates how direct collaboration between regulators and digital asset firms can facilitate the on-chain representation of traditional assets while upholding compliance and market integrity.
Tokenized Assets and Institutional Demand
Demand for tokenized real-world assets has continued to expand as institutions pursue more efficient methods of accessing and managing conventional holdings. The aggregate value of distributed tokenized assets has grown to exceed $31 billion, up from approximately $6.6 billion one year prior. XAU₮ applies this model to gold, merging physical backing with the speed and portability of digital tokens.
Tether has indicated it will maintain collaborative efforts with regulators and licensed partners throughout the UAE and the broader region to advance responsible digital asset adoption.
