OpenAI Launches GPT-6 And Intelligent UI, Bringing Interactive Tools Into ChatGPT Conversations
In Brief
OpenAI launches GPT-6 and Intelligent UI, enabling ChatGPT to create interactive tools, visuals and tailored interfaces directly within conversations.

OpenAI has announced the global rollout of GPT-6 and a new feature called Intelligent UI, bringing interactive interfaces directly into ChatGPT conversations. The update is designed to move beyond conventional text-based responses by allowing the model to combine written explanations with visuals, charts, buttons, forms and other interactive elements.
Intelligent UI enables GPT-6 to determine which format best fits a user’s request. A comparison, for example, can be presented side by side, while a complex concept can be explained through an interactive diagram. For practical tasks, users can ask ChatGPT to create functional tools within the conversation, including savings calculators, bill splitters and simple games.
OpenAI said the system is built on a library of native, streamable interface components and a compiler that processes interfaces as they are generated. This allows interactive elements to appear progressively rather than requiring the complete response to be generated first. The model has also been trained to assess factors such as clarity, layout and usefulness when deciding whether and how to introduce interactivity.
The company said the feature represents a shift in how users interact with AI, with software increasingly adapting its interface to the task rather than requiring users to navigate fixed applications.
Faster Responses and Broader Model Improvements
GPT-6 also introduces changes to how ChatGPT produces answers. The model can begin responding while continuing to reason, progressively adding information instead of waiting for its entire reasoning process to finish. OpenAI said this approach is intended to reduce perceived waiting times while maintaining coherent and factually consistent responses.
The company reported that GPT-6 also performs better on tasks requiring web searches, including deciding when external information is necessary and identifying supporting sources. In an internal evaluation of difficult problems, GPT-6 addressed the central aspect of user questions more frequently than GPT-5.6.
OpenAI additionally highlighted improvements in safety and model reliability. GPT-6 has been trained to better recognize its limitations, communicate when it lacks sufficient information or tools, and resist attempts to circumvent safety safeguards. The company said testing focused in particular on risks involving cyberattacks, biological threats and violence, as well as attacks that adapt over multiple conversational turns.
GPT-6 with Intelligent UI is initially rolling out to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users, with Free and Go users scheduled to receive access from the following day. Enterprise availability will depend on administrator settings. The Chat experience is powered by GPT-6 Sol for paid tiers and GPT-6 Luna for Free and Go users, while the models used for Work and Codex remain unchanged.
OpenAI said the longer-term goal is to make ChatGPT capable of creating interfaces tailored to what users are trying to accomplish, potentially reducing the need to learn and navigate conventional software.
