Kraken Lists Casper Network’s CSPR Token, Expanding US Access For Institutional Blockchain Infrastructure
In Brief
Kraken lists Casper Network’s CSPR token, expanding U.S. access for institutional blockchain infrastructure and real-world asset workflows.

Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken has announced that CSPR, the native token of Casper Network, is now available for trading on its platform. The listing marks a significant access milestone for U.S.-based participants and the broader Casper ecosystem, providing a regulated, familiar venue through which to acquire and transact in the Layer 1 blockchain’s native asset.
The expansion represents a strategic push into the U.S. market for Casper, which is positioning itself as infrastructure for regulated real-world assets and machine-driven economic activity. Kraken’s regulatory standing reinforces the credibility of this access point: Kraken Financial holds a Federal Reserve master account, enabling direct integration with U.S. payment rails, while parent company Payward is pursuing a national trust company charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. These credentials align closely with Casper’s institutional focus, as the network aims to support operational workflows involving multiple parties—from issuers and brokers to auditors and regulators—without sacrificing on-chain control or flexibility.
Casper Network Protocol and CSPR Token Economics
Casper Network is a Layer 1 blockchain that launched in 2021 with an emphasis on security, upgradeability, predictable execution, and developer accessibility. Designed to underpin machine commerce and the real-world asset economy, the protocol targets use cases that cannot tolerate uncertainty, including institutional asset workflows and autonomous transaction systems.
Recent upgrades have strengthened this foundation: Casper 2.0 introduced instant finality, native access controls, liquid staking, and multi-VM execution, while Casper 2.1 added faster block times and protocol-level fee burning. The network is also among the first Layer 1 blockchains to implement quantum-safe cryptography as part of its enterprise security roadmap.
CSPR serves as the network’s native utility and staking token, comparable to ETH on Ethereum’s Proof-of-Stake chain. It is used to execute transactions by covering gas fees and is staked by nodes to secure the network. Token holders may delegate CSPR to validators to participate in staking rewards, which are paid in CSPR.
At launch, the initial supply was set at 10 billion tokens. Of this, 24% was allocated to the team, advisors, and Casper Labs; 14.3% to the non-profit Casper Association; and 16% reserved for protocol development incentives. The remaining supply was distributed through private and public token sales. There is no maximum supply cap; the network employs an inflationary model with a target issuance rate of approximately 8% to incentivize continued participation and usage.
