Altcoin Trader

What is an altcoin trader?

Put simply, an altcoin trader is a financial player who focuses primarily on buying and selling so-called altcoins – cryptocurrencies outside the mainstream of Bitcoin and Ethereum. Altcoin markets are often less liquid and far smaller than traditional cryptocurrency markets.

Understanding altcoin traders

There are tens of thousands of altcoins and they come in several types and have differing utilities. There is no clear delineation between which cryptocurrencies exist as altcoins beyond the expectation that Bitcoin and Ethereum are the primary investment vehicles for traditional crypto investors. Interestingly, altcoins can be built on the Ethereum blockchain which, in turn, defines Ethereum as an altcoin.
