Gate Update: From Singapore’s Main Stage To Copper And Natural Gas Derivatives, Gate Expands Across Markets

Gate is entering October with a lot going on. Ahead of TOKEN2049 Singapore, the exchange released a teaser video in which Founder and CEO Dr. Han calls the next one to two years “a fresh starting point” for the platform. He will deliver a mainstage keynote and sit down for a fireside chat with four-time F1 World Champion Max Verstappen. Gate will also run an exhibition booth and a branded lounge, and says it now serves over 61 million users, with 5,300+ cryptocurrencies and 12,800+ stocks and ETFs on offer.

The product side is moving just as fast. According to CoinGlass data, Gate ranks first globally in open interest for both Natural Gas (about $1.65 million) and Copper (about $1.07 million). Both contracts also placed in the top two for 24-hour open interest growth. Gate TradFi now supports energy and metals including Natural Gas, Copper, Gold and Silver, all managed through one Unified Account. Gate also listed Concrete (CT), an institutional operating system for on-chain finance. CT/USDT spot trading opened on September 30, with a 1,000,000 CT Launchpool airdrop running until October 21.

Here is the rest of the week’s news.

Markets and Trading

On September 29, BTC traded near $83,180, down 0.31% over 24 hours, while ETH rose 0.43% to about $2,669. Futures activity jumped: BTC futures volume reached roughly $61.7 billion (+43.59%) and ETH about $44.7 billion (+60.52%). Gate recorded around $5.35 billion in BTC and $5.25 billion in ETH futures volume, both in the global top three.

Gate Ventures’ weekly report describes a rebound in U.S. equities as tech rallied and oil cooled. The S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow gained 1.21%, 2.06% and 0.28%. The 10-year Treasury yield rose to 5.17% and spot gold fell 2.13% to $4,284.97. In crypto, Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs added about 5,890 BTC and 9,486 ETH. SUI surged 36% and BCH gained 29%. Ten venture deals raised $169.2 million, led by Circle’s $100 million round. Gate’s institutional weekly report points the same way: BTC and ETH ETFs drew net inflows of about $2.39 billion and $690 million, and stablecoin supply grew by roughly $1.59 billion. Gate TradFi’s weekly volume reached about $100 billion, while derivatives data pointed to continued deleveraging.

Gate Options also saw strong growth. Through September 29, total volume was up about 18.7% on the full month of August, premium volume rose about 141.3%, and new-user volume climbed roughly 180%. BTC options open interest remained call-heavy at 64.54%, though 24-hour call and put volumes were nearly balanced. The Options Newcomer Season offers first-trade rewards and a first-trade loss rebate.

Stocks and TradFi

Hong Kong equities posted strong gains, with North Mining Shares (00433) up 22.85%, BGMC International (01693) up 21.04% and Grand Field Group (00115) up 16.66%. Gate Stocks covers the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong and Korea, with access to more than 12,800 stocks and ETFs, USDT-based trading and fractional shares from 0.01 share. Gate Research’s report, Gate TradFi Connecting Global Markets, outlines the distinct return drivers in each market and finds that cross-market diversification can reduce single-market dependence, though it cannot eliminate systemic risk.

On the futures side, Gate’s Stock Section launched contracts for TWST, CVNA, RUM, WBD, CRML and BWET on September 29, with 1–20x leverage. CARDS (Collector Crypt) and XDP (Doppler Finance) futures also went live, with Trading Bots and Copy Trading support.

Gate Institutional continues to expand multi-asset capabilities across spot, futures, stocks, ETFs and options. Through infrastructure such as OES and CrossEx, it is advancing API trading, cross-platform execution and settlement coordination.

In Europe, Gate Europe marked one year since its MiCAR CASP authorisation from the Malta Financial Services Authority. It also holds a Payment Institution license. CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti wrote on LinkedIn that stablecoins and blockchain rails are moving digital assets from trading into global commerce, including supplier settlements, payroll and treasury operations. He added that clear regulation is essential.
