Former Ava Labs, Meta and Shopify Execs Join Immutable’s C-Suite
In Brief
Immutable has boosted its C-suite with new hires prominent web2 and web3 companies.
The new hires include Devon Ferreira, as Chief Marketing Officer and David Bicknell as Chief Financial Officer.
Ferreira was previously the CMO at Avalanche Network while Bicknell was the finance director at Meta.
Immutable has added key talent from prominent web2 and web3 companies to its C-suite as the company expands its presence in the gaming sector.
The new hires include Devon Ferreira as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and David Bicknell as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Ferreira joins Immutable from Ava Labs, where he also served as CMO. Previously, he held marketing leadership roles at Disney and Oakley, where he served as global head of digital commerce and marketing innovation.
He brings over 20 years of experience as a strategist, marketer and entrepreneur to his new role at Immutable, where he will spearhead the company’s brand and marketing efforts. He is also an advisor to the founders of the web3 entertainment studio Toonstar.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Devon, who helped build Avalanche to one of the biggest household names in Web3, onboard to supercharge Immutable’s growth,” Robbie Ferguson, President and Co-founder of Immutable, said in a statement.
This news comes after Immutable laid off 11% of its staff in February. Ferreira’s appointment follows the addition of David Bicknell as CFO in August last year. Bicknell was previously the finance director at Meta, where he oversaw finance and business operations for the Facebook App. Prior to joining Meta, he was the finance director of engineering and product at Twitter, supporting the company’s product portfolio and infrastructure.
As Immutable’s CFO, Bicknell is tasked with managing the company’s balance sheet and cash runway, as well as overseeing treasury and fundraising efforts, financial governance, investments, and potential future acquisitions.
Alongside the announcement of the new hires, Immutable has also promoted its Senior Vice President Jason Suen to Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). In his new role, Suen will assist in guiding the company toward broader adoption while developing web3 gaming titles.
Before Immutable, Jason had leadership positions at Shopify, where he served as Regional Head and Director for Southeast Asia. He also possesses significant expertise in SaaS gained from working with venture-backed startups and global scale-ups.
Immutable has been ramping up its efforts on web3 gaming over the past year. In Q3 2022, the company onboarded over 100 games, a significant increase from just five games deployed at the start of 2022. Last month, the company announced that it would release the Immutable Passport, an all-in-one solution for gaming studios that onboard gamers into web3.
