DeNet Rolls Out Storage Protocol v4 With 7M Users And Global Node Network Already Operational

DeNet has officially launched Storage Protocol v4, opening its decentralized storage infrastructure to the public with an ecosystem already spanning more than seven million registered users worldwide. The release marks a significant transition for the company from theoretical Web3 architecture to an operational, battle-tested utility.
The protocol aggregates unused storage capacity from independent providers—known as Datakeepers—into an encrypted, distributed network. At launch, the ecosystem comprises over 2,000 active Datakeepers and 2.9 million Watcher Nodes, decentralized validators that continuously audit data availability to ensure files remain online, intact, and immediately accessible. Coverage extends across 194 countries.
“DeNet Storage Protocol v4 is the result of nine years of engineering,” said co-founder Rafik Singatullin in a written statement. “More importantly, it launches with an ecosystem that’s already operating at scale—millions of users, thousands of storage providers and a decentralized validation layer spanning 194 countries,” he added.
The protocol functions as an infrastructure layer responsible for distributing, encrypting, verifying, and retrieving data. Built atop this foundation are applications and services, beginning with DeNet Storage, a mobile app that allows users to store, manage, and share files without relying on centralized cloud providers.
DeNet Targets Enterprise and AI Workloads With Decentralized Storage as Sovereign Alternative to Legacy Clouds
For developers and enterprises, the implications extend beyond consumer storage. Core backend developer Rita Gamaleeva emphasized that the technology is already operational and available for integration. Developers can leverage the protocol to build global services, sovereign national storage networks, or private corporate systems deployed entirely within internal infrastructure.
“This changes how we think about digital sovereignty,” said DeNet core backend developer Rita Gamaleeva in a written statement. “It is no longer defined only by geography or by who owns the physical infrastructure, but by how the technology is designed. A user can live in Germany, use an American application or one of the world’s most advanced AI models, and still remain in control of their data,” she explained.
The architecture is designed to support consumer storage, enterprise infrastructure, and AI workloads alike. By utilizing millions of watcher nodes to guarantee uptime without centralized servers, DeNet addresses single points of failure and data sovereignty concerns inherent in traditional cloud giants.
Looking ahead, protocol-level data ownership could reshape enterprise privacy frameworks and AI data pipelines. As artificial intelligence workloads increasingly demand distributed datasets delivered securely, DeNet’s infrastructure may appeal to the next generation of decentralized applications. If developer adoption accelerates, the protocol is positioned to challenge legacy cloud providers with a blueprint for compliance-ready, sovereign storage.
