Binance Adds Support for Bitcoin Ordinals to its NFT Marketplace; Announces Metaverse Reality Show
Binance is bringing Bitcoin Ordinals to its NFT marketplace, the company announced on Monday. As competition to offer trustless infrastructure in the Bitcoin Ordinals ecosystem heats up, Binance is jumping on the bandwagon to offer NFT collectors and traders access to Bitcoin Ordinals.
Through an open call for quality Bitcoin NFT projects, Binance NFT marketplace is currently seeking partnerships with Bitcoin Ordinals projects and creators to boost the community on the platform. Binance NFT said it will offer royalty support for Bitcoin NFT creators.
Starting today, users can also participate in a special registration event running from May 9 to May 15 and potentially unlock whitelist and airdrop opportunities.
As Binance NFT Marketplace currently supports BNB Chain, Etherum and Polygon, the platform hopes to expand upon its multi-chain, open marketplace ecosystem by integrating Bitcoin Ordinals. Binance joins other platforms such as Magic Eden, OKX, and Gamma.io in offering support for Bitcoin Ordinals.
Also announced on Monday, Binance is making its first foray into the metaverse with Build The Block, a global virtual reality show where 12 web3 startups will compete for investment from Binance Labs. Handpicked from over 900 applications, the contestants will compete live in front of a virtual studio audience and panel of judges.
The panel of high-profile judges include Yi He, co-founder and CMO of Binance and head of Binance Labs; Yibo Ling, chief business officer of Binance; Guy Turner, co-founder of Coin Bureau; Azeem Khan, a member of the World Economic Forum’s Crypto Sustainability Coalition and fundraising and partnership lead at Gitcoin; and Robby Yung, CEO of Animoca Brands and partner at Animoca Capital.
“Build The Block is Binance’s latest innovative experiment — creating the industry’s first metaverse investment competition. This program has attracted many entrepreneurs and builders alike to showcase their Web3 projects and we hope a platform like this encourages others to innovate even further,” said Yi He, co-founder of Binance and head of Binance Labs, “We believe in the potential of the metaverse and blockchain technology, and will continue to empower creators to build the future of internet together.”
The show will air in seven episodes on Binance’s YouTube channel and Binance Live, starting with the first episode on May 12 at 2pm GMT. Episodes will air every Tuesday and Friday, with the finale airing Friday, Jun 2.
