AI to Play a Critical Role in Metaverse Development, Will Reach 1 Billion Users by 2030: Report
In Brief
ABI Research predicts that rapid advancements in the next three to four years will drive metaverse adoption, potentially elevating its revenue to nearly US$50 billion by 2030.
According to ABI Research, a global tech intelligence agency, the metaverse’s accelerated adoption will witness several pivotal moments in the coming three to four years, enabled by AI. Significantly, this adoption surge will most notably permeate the consumer segment, a sector currently trailing its industrial counterpart. The projection is near $50 billion metaverse revenue in the consumer domain by 2030.
Michael Inouye, the Principal Analyst for Metaverse Markets and Technologies at ABI, suggests redefining our perspective on the metaverse.
The metaverse is less a novel market and more a nomenclature capturing the essence of ongoing market shifts and industrial patterns.
Michael Inouye said
Facebook‘s rebranding might have put the term ‘metaverse’ on everyone’s lips, but the groundwork for this digital universe predates the social media giant’s name change. Inouye emphasizes that AI is central to this journey towards an interconnected digital reality. Rather than overshadowing the metaverse, AI technologies will facilitate its evolution.
Metaverse’s Future Raising
Devices like Apple’s Vision Pro stand testament to the immense potential spatial computing holds. Such advancements are progressively merging conventional applications with immersive experiences. Additionally, technological revamps like the forthcoming Wi-Fi 7 promise to broaden the accessibility of immersive devices.
The gaming and social media sectors are also playing their part, pioneering new business models revolving around digital asset ownership. Such leaps are reminiscent of the transformative phase streaming videos underwent.
Inouye encapsulates the sentiment, “The paradigms shifting in favor of consumer control, the melding of industries in the ‘Industry 4.0’ era, network unifications, and the evolution of live-service gaming, all hint at a future echoing the metaverse’s promise.”
