With Its Web3 Elements, LandRocker Throws Down the Gauntlet to Minecraft

With more than 238 million individual copies sold, Minecraft is by far and away the best-selling video game in history. It was developed by Mojang Studios and has sold even more copies than hit titles like Super Mario Bros., Tetris, Pac-Man, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare combined.

With Its Web3 Elements, LandRocker Throws Down the Gauntlet to Minecraft

Minecraft is credited with popularizing the concept of sandbox games, where minimal limitations are placed on the gamer, enabling them to roam around anywhere and change the virtual world to their own tastes. In addition, Minecraft is also a pioneer of the survival game genre, where players are required to gather resources to sustain themselves and build tools, shelters, buildings, vehicles, weapons and more. Since launching in 2011, Minecraft has expanded far beyond its original scope, to become a platform of education, creativity and inclusivity, attracting players from all over the world.

So successful is Minecraft that it even supports thousands of developers, providing them with an income stream for creating new content that can be sold via the Minecraft Marketplace.

Evolving The Mining Game Genre

It’s difficult to imagine how any game could compete with Minecraft, but if there is one chink in its armor, it’s the lack of a fair rewards system that enables every player to be compensated for the contributions they make.

Minecraft has been left behind by the emergence of “play-to-earn” games that leverage decentralized Web3 technologies such as blockchain, NFTs and crypto to enable ownership of in-game assets and reward players. Moreover, many of this new generation of P2E games are building on the elements that made Minecraft so successful, including its exploration, building and mining-focused gameplay.

LandRocker is a new multiplayer P2E game that borrows many aspects of Minecraft’s gameplay. With it, players enter a universe that’s populated by hundreds of uncharted planets. The thrill of discovery and the ability to discover valuable resources with a real-world impact combine to captivate players. Their mission is straightforward, with players tasked with collecting resources, gathering rewards, overcoming challenges and emerging victorious in player-vs-environment and player-vs-player battles.

The gameplay is focused on Rovers, which are all-terrain vehicles used by players to explore new worlds and gather resources through mining. Every player starts with a basic Rover, but they can upgrade to an NFT Rover that’s more powerful, allowing them to earn more valuable rewards. Still, players need to keep an eye on their fuel level, as this expensive resource is what enables Rovers to explore for longer and collect more resources.

One of the great advantages of the game is that it offers two distinct game modes, including a Web-based 2D version and a downloadable 3D version that’s more immersive.

In the 3D version of this game, players can experience a wide array of different gameplay modes, competing in intense PvP battles, last-man-standing showdowns, high-speed races, one-on-one Rover battles, resource material hunts, and exploration quests. It’s a game that caters to everybody’s playing style, ensuring players remain engaged for many months to come.

The other key aspect of LandRocker is that its platform serves as a kind of canvas, with a 3D game builder that allows anyone to create their own spaces, virtual worlds and mini-games, without any knowledge of how to code.

All of these elements combine to provide a thrilling experience as players remain fully-focused on their end goal, the non-stop chase to earn real-world rewards in the form of digital gold.

Real-Life Rewards

It’s the unique, real-life rewards distribution model that really sets LandRocker apart from Minecraft, and players have many ways to earn them. One of the main aspects of the game is expiration and mining, which can generate significant rewards for players. First, the player must purchase fuel for their Rover, which allows them to engage in mining and collect valuable NFTs and crypto, plus materials and blueprints that can be used to build new Rovers and even planets they can sell on the marketplace.

Planets are a big investment, as owners automatically collect 50% of the revenues generated from fuel sold to others who want to explore it and mine resources.

The came also incorporates “staking” elements, allowing players to benefit from revenue-sharing planet models. They can stake $LRT tokens to earn valuable fuel resources that can be used or sold, as well as more advanced Rovers. Players can even earn $LRT by staking in the common liquidity pool.

Unique among P2E games, It doesn’t just use blockchain for transactions, but also as the basis of its reward distribution system. Smart contracts ensure that the resources on new planets are hidden in unpredictable locations, unknown even to the game’s developers. This ensures complete fairness as players compete to unearth them through mining.

What’s Next?

Just as Minecraft is constantly evolving, the same goes for LandRocker, which has plans to bombard players with a deluge of new features and gameplay elements. It also plans to evolve into a more inclusive platform with the creation of a democratic governance structure.

On the immediate horizon, players can look forward to the availability of 3D mining functionality in Q3 of 2023, followed by the first public sale of its $LRT token and its first listings on decentralized exchanges. Once players are able to mine and trade their $LRT tokens, LandRocker will introduce its staking capabilities in Q4, while enhancing mining with multiplayer modes and the introduction of PvE battles.

Their longer-term plans call for the introduction of NFT rentals and random mining events in Q1 of 2024, further enhancing its fairness and competitiveness. Then in Q2, it will introduce democratic governance with the launch of its Decentralized Autonomous Organization, or DAO, which will allow players to submit and vote on proposals to change the game. One of the first DAO votes will be on when to launch LandRocker’s 3D game building platform, followed by a vote on the addition of faction-based gameplay.

The company clearly has some big plans ahead as it strives to go toe-to-toe with Minecraft. Of course, it will be a tough task for them to achieve even a fraction of the success of its prestigious rival. That said, with its gameplay centered on an exciting and democratic rewards-based model, the thrills and delights of digging for digital gold might just be enough to give it an edge.
