Spike Lee will release “She’s Gotta Have It” NFTs
Spike Lee is set to release an NFT collection inspired by his film “She’s Gotta Have It”.
“She’s Gotta Have It” is a comedy-drama released in 1986. Spike Lee wrote, produced, edited, and directed the film. “She’s Gotta Have It” is the first commercial cinematic release of the director, marking the first film for the celebrated filmmaker.
Spike Lee partnered with The Visible Project to create 3,945 NFTs. The artworks feature shots of Spike’s seminal character Mars Blackmon, rendered from the original 35 mm cut of the film. The images include generative effects, frames, and other colorful details.
The NFT holders will be granted The Visible Project membership benefits. Among these are access to private Discord channels, voting rights within the Project, early access to curated collections, airdrops, merchandise, and brand collaborations.
The fans will also receive tickets to IRL and digital events. This includes the first “Visible Festival,” which will take place in New York City in spring 2023.
Spike Lee plans to spend NFT profits on funding new films through The Visible Project.
The Visible Project is a democratized content incubator, powered by the community. The platform supports young filmmakers, blockchain developers, students, and fans of independent film.
The NFTs will be minted on Ethereum, with the support of Habitat Labs. The minting will supposedly start at the end of June.
The Visible Project will host a dedicated IG Live with Spike Lee on Friday.
