National Geographic taps Snowcrash to release a photography NFT collection
In Brief
National Geographic and NFT platform Snowcrash are set to release a photography NFT collection on January 17
The collection will include 1,888 NFT photographs of 16 sunrises all over the world
Iconic magazine National Geographic partners with web3 studio and NFT platform Snowcrash to release an NFT collection. The collection, dubbed “GM: Daybreak Around the World,” aims to celebrate 135 years of National Geographic Photography.
The release features 1,888 NFT photographs of 16 sunrises that took place in different parts of the world. The shots were made by global National Geographic photographers and digital artists. Among the creators are Justin Aversano, Delphine Diallo, Jimmy Chin, Kris Graves, Yagazie Emezi, Mia Forrest, Renan Ozturk, Aaron Huey, Ioulex, John Knopf, Michael Yamashita, Cristina Mittermeier, Cath Simard, Ben Strauss, Tara Workman, and Reuben Wu.
The collection is set to be released on January 17 on the NFT platform Snowcrash. Notably, collectors will be able to pay with debit or credit cards without any need for a cryptocurrency wallet. The companies have not shared the NFTs’ prices yet.
National Geographic’s “Daybreak Around the World” is not the first nature-themed photography collection on the blockchain. In June this year, award-winning photographer Lynsey Addario released two NFT photographs named “Caldor Fire, Burning Cabin” and “From the Flames.” The collection raised a total of $4,000. The drop aimed to raise awareness of the urgency of global warming, with 10% of the proceeds going to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation.
