Meet ‘Tab’ – the Wearable AI Companion by 20yr old Tech Whiz Avi Schiffmann

In an era marked by rapid advancements in technology and the relentless pursuit of efficiency, the demand for intelligent AI assistants has recently skyrocketed. We’ve seen the emergence of voice-activated assistants like Siri and Alexa, as well as AI-driven chatbots for customer service.

However, a new contender is on the horizon, to revolutionize the way we interact with our daily lives – Tab, a wearable AI assistant.

Avi Schiffmann, a young tech visionary behind the headline worthy COVID dashboard and a Airbnb-like platform for Ukrainian refugees, aims to disrupt the tech world once again. This time, he is introducing Tab AI, a groundbreaking smart wearable set to debut in the winter or spring of 2024.

Tab, a wearable AI that promises to enhance the way we interact with information, takes center stage in Avi’s latest endeavor. Revealed through a video shared on X, this innovation has already captured the attention of tech enthusiasts worldwide. Moreover, first 50 Tab devices got sold within 2 hours of the pre-order.

During an exclusive conversation with Metaverse Post, Avi shared the intricate details of his innovative AI technology and outlined his forthcoming plans for the device.

What is The Hype All About?

In essence, Tab aims to serve as a wearable—personal AI companion, integrating data from users’ daily lives. It achieves this by actively monitoring user conversations, providing instant access to a vast reservoir of knowledge and tailoring concise, relevant summaries to user inquiries. The AI assistant can extract information from multiple sources, ensuring an efficient and tailored user experience.

“The last era of wearables were all centered around health data, sleep scores, etc. Personally, especially as a young founder, I really don’t care too much about what my heart rate is throughout the day,” Avi told Metaverse Post. “Basic sensors like cameras and microphones can be extremely powerful when plugged into AI, and as a result wearables can take new forms and have utility that extends far beyond just your HRV score.”

Avi said that Tab’s AI model represents the culmination of years of research and development in artificial intelligence, natural language processing and data aggregation. He asserts that as a information assistant, Tab’s AI goes beyond conventional language models (LLMs) systems by offering users a omniscient experience.

“Tab works by building a knowledge graph of key entities and their associated facts, removing unnecessary personal information,” said Avi.

At its core, the AI is designed to help users navigate the vast sea of information available on the internet, corporate networks and beyond. It takes inspiration from the idea of an all-knowing AI librarian, capable of instantly accessing and organizing knowledge to provide relevant and timely insights.

“By having Tab listen in on key conversations throughout the day, whether it’s concerns a user mentions or ideas they brainstorm, you don’t have to worry about forgetting anything. You chat with the device’s personal AI later as it retains a full context of your daily life, and work with it to brainstorm new ideas, ask it “what should I do today”, or just generally have someone to talk to,” explained Avi. “Talking to Tab feels like a late night conversation with a friend, as the AI truly understands you.”

Avi believes that wearable AI offers a natural means of interacting with technology, integrating into our daily surroundings. However, he said that Tab does not store transcripts or audio recordings, for user data privacy and security.

“I think this is what tech should really do: augment our capabilities but not distract us. For example, I used Tab to build Tab, and chatted with it to come up with demo ideas,” Avi told Metaverse Post. “I hope people use Tab to find clarity, and build their dreams.”
