Mastercard Launches Global Money Platform Integrating Fiat And Stablecoin Infrastructure
In Brief
Mastercard and BVNK launch Global Money Platform, a single-API infrastructure combining fiat and stablecoin accounts, conversion, cards and global payouts for banks, fintechs and enterprises.

Mastercard has unveiled its Global Money Platform, a full-stack infrastructure product that combines the payments giant’s global network with stablecoin technology from BVNK, the company it acquired in August 2026. The platform marks the first major integration of the two firms’ capabilities following the acquisition and is delivered through a single API.
The core of the offering is a global money account — a multi-currency account in which fiat currencies and stablecoins coexist, with real-time conversion between them available through one integration. Beyond holding and converting funds, the platform enables stablecoin-linked cards, multi-currency accounts, and local bank payouts through Mastercard Move, the company’s money movement service that reaches more than 17 billion endpoints. Local currency payment coverage is expected to expand to over 40 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories by 2027. Card issuing will be available across more than 130 countries, allowing users to spend stablecoin balances at Mastercard’s hundreds of millions of merchant locations.
The platform is modular, meaning banks, fintechs and enterprises can adopt only the capabilities they need initially — spanning send, receive, convert, store, spend and earn — and add others over time, rather than integrating separate providers for each step of the money journey. Companies can either embed the infrastructure into their own branded products or use it directly for treasury, payments and settlement management. Payment processor Nuvei and card issuing platform Marqeta are among the first integrators, alongside Ontop, Bolt Group and Almond FinTech.
Designed for programmable and agentic commerce
The platform’s design responds to a persistent operational problem for businesses operating internationally: managing receivables and payouts across multiple currencies today typically requires juggling separate accounts, vendors and pre-funded balances in each market, tying up working capital and slowing operations. By consolidating liquidity management, currency and stablecoin conversion, and global payouts into one system, Mastercard aims to reduce that friction.
Looking further ahead, the company positions the platform as foundational infrastructure for a multi-money future. Planned developments include support for agentic commerce — transactions initiated or executed autonomously by AI agents — and additional regulated digital money forms such as tokenized deposits.
The launch signals an accelerating convergence between traditional payments infrastructure and blockchain-based money. By pairing BVNK’s stablecoin rails with Mastercard’s scale and regulatory standing, the company is effectively betting that stablecoins will function as a complementary layer within mainstream finance rather than a parallel system — a direction that, if validated, would lower the barrier for enterprises to treat digital assets as routine treasury and settlement instruments.
