KuCoin Receives ISO/IEC 42001 Certification, Advancing Responsible AI Oversight Within Global Digital Asset Infrastructure
In Brief
KuCoin secures ISO/IEC 42001 certification for its AI Management System, reinforcing responsible governance and trusted digital asset infrastructure.

Cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin announced that its Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) has received ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification. The standard represents the first internationally recognized certifiable framework for AI management systems. This milestone reflects KuCoin’s ongoing efforts to develop Trusted AI through accountable governance practices, enhancing the organization’s Trust Framework and supporting its objective of providing secure, transparent, and reliable digital asset infrastructure.
As AI becomes more deeply integrated into digital financial systems, its applications have moved well beyond operational efficiency improvements. AI now underpins an expanding array of essential platform operations, including risk management, anti-money laundering protocols, fraud detection, market surveillance, client support, product analytics, and automated workflows. With advancing AI capabilities, governance expectations have also increased. Trusted AI is no longer measured exclusively by technical performance; it demands well-defined accountability, openness, sustained monitoring, and ethical governance across the complete AI lifecycle. ISO/IEC 42001 establishes precisely this foundation and is becoming an essential benchmark for the digital asset sector’s evolution.
KuCoin’s certified Artificial Intelligence Management System underpins its worldwide digital asset exchange and financial services ecosystem, promoting the ethical implementation, oversight, and ongoing refinement of AI throughout its business processes. The certification encompasses the AI management system itself along with the organizational units that sustain it, confirming that AI operations are managed within a systematic and globally accepted governance structure.
Governance Standards and Strategic Commitment
“AI is becoming a foundational capability of digital financial infrastructure, but greater capability must be matched by greater responsibility,” said BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin in a written statement. “We believe the future of the industry will not be defined simply by more advanced AI, but by more trusted AI. Achieving ISO/IEC 42001 demonstrates our commitment to embedding responsible AI governance into the way we build, deploy and operate AI across our platform. As we continue to innovate, we remain equally committed to ensuring that every AI capability is transparent, accountable and designed to strengthen user trust,” he added.
ISO/IEC 42001 joins KuCoin’s established Trust Framework as its newest component. The platform already maintains ISO/IEC 27001 certification for information security, SOC 2 Type II attestation for operational dependability, and ISO 22301 certification for business continuity and operational resilience. The addition of ISO/IEC 42001 introduces a specialized governance structure dedicated to AI.
Collectively, these globally acknowledged standards form a multi-tiered base that reinforces security, resilience, transparency, and responsible innovation throughout the platform. As artificial intelligence continues to transform the digital asset landscape, KuCoin intends to persist in advancing Trusted AI through internationally recognized governance protocols, ensuring that AI technology develops not only in capability but also in reliability.
