Carl Malamud, in his 1992 book Exploring the Internet, spoke of a “digital nomad” who “travels the world with a laptop, setting up FidoNet nodes.” Mitch Ratcliffe and Andrew Gore’s handbook series, Digital Nomad’s Guide, was released by Random House in 1993.
