Gate Update: Institutional Capital Returns, Gate Hits #2 Globally In BTC And ETH Spot As SpaceX Pre-IPO Unlocks, DGAI Listings And 700K WLFI Airdrop Go Live

The past week delivered one of the crypto market’s sharpest sentiment reversals in months. According to Gate Ventures’ latest weekly report, BTC and ETH surged 23.6% and 31.4% respectively, lifting total crypto market capitalization by 22.1%. The Fear & Greed Index moved from 27 to 73 in a matter of days, while Bitcoin ETFs absorbed roughly $1.9 billion in net inflows and Ethereum ETFs attracted approximately $697 million — signalling a decisive return of institutional appetite. Gate captured a significant share of the resulting volume: CoinGlass data confirmed the exchange ranked second globally in both BTC and ETH spot trading, and third in ETH futures. Meanwhile, the options desk posted its strongest weekly growth on record, with total options volume climbing 182.56% week-over-week and the number of active traders rising 136.43% — new user trading volume alone surged 724.26%. Across three of the industry’s most-watched metrics, Gate’s footprint expanded in step with the market.
The broader momentum extended well beyond trading desks. DefiLlama data showed Gate recording $194.09 million in net inflows over a single 24-hour window, placing it in the top three among all global centralised exchanges. In derivatives, Gate’s open interest in ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) reached $6.63 million, ranking first among CEXs on CoinGlass. In metals, gold perpetual futures (XAUT) open interest on Gate exceeded $147 million, ranking second across the network, while 24-hour XAUT spot volume hit $11.96 million — top three industry-wide. The exchange’s Unified Account infrastructure, which supports seamless cross-asset allocation spanning crypto, stocks, metals, forex and indices, appears to be translating macro volatility into sustained on-platform activity.
Strategy and Regulation: Embedded Finance and Stablecoin Infrastructure
Two senior Gate executives used the week to outline longer-term strategic thinking. Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti argued that the next wave of digital asset adoption would arrive not through users migrating to crypto platforms, but through digital asset infrastructure embedding itself into financial services people already use — payments, commerce, cross-border transfers. He highlighted MiCA’s relatively consistent regulatory framework as a structural advantage for European operators, and confirmed that connecting digital assets with payments sits at the centre of Gate Europe’s development direction. Gate US COO Laura took a complementary view on stablecoins, stating that broader adoption will ultimately depend on whether the surrounding infrastructure — liquidity, regulatory clarity, interoperability and integration with existing settlement networks — can meet traditional financial standards. Gate US currently holds 36 state Money Transmitter Licenses and operates across 47 U.S. jurisdictions; its Gate US Card service is presented as one practical bridge between stablecoin functionality and everyday payments.
New Listings and Product Launches
On the listings and product front, Gate launched a comprehensive suite of services for DGrid AI (DGAI), including perpetual futures with up to 20x leverage, margin trading, loan services, Simple Earn, bots trading, copy trading, Convert and Auto-Invest. Separately, Cash Cat (CASHCAT) went live with spot and perpetual futures trading alongside Convert access. Gate also expanded its Event Contracts offering — directional price bets requiring no leverage or margin management — by adding DOGE, HYPE and BNB, bringing the full lineup to seven major assets: BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE, HYPE and BNB, across four time windows (5min, 15min, 1h and 4h).
Trading Competitions and Copy Trading
To coincide with the Event Contracts expansion, Gate launched a dedicated trading competition running through September 2, with a 200,000 USDT prize pool. High-volume traders exceeding 1,000,000 USDT in cumulative volume are guaranteed a 1% reward from a 100,000 USDT leaderboard pool, while a separate 50,000 USDT volume-sharing pool covers qualifying participants outside the top ranks. Check-in and tiered volume rewards are available for traders at lower activity levels, with daily tiers starting from 500 USDT.
The copy trading business continued its recovery. In futures copy trading, daily lead trading volume surged 71.8% week-over-week, while the average daily number of new lead traders rose 4.5% WoW. CFD copy trading also expanded, with lead trading volume up 19.0% WoW and new lead trader counts up 13.5% WoW. Gate also holds the distinction of being the world’s first cryptocurrency platform to offer stock copy trading, allowing users to follow professional traders across U.S., Hong Kong, Korean and Japanese equities via the Gate App.

Equities: SpaceX Unlock, gStocks Performance and Global Market Coverage
In the equities segment, the major development of the week was Gate’s first Pre-IPO share unlock for SpaceX (SPCX), with 33,900 SPCX unlocked on August 26 — Gate is the first platform in the industry to execute Pre-IPO share unlocks and distribute corresponding listed shares directly to users’ stock accounts. On the markets side, multiple Gate gStocks tokens posted strong 24-hour performance, led by Bloom Energy (BEG) up 8.23% and MicroStrategy (MSTRG) up 5.89%. Several Hong Kong stocks available on Gate also rallied, with STAR SHINE (01440) up 18.55% and CONTEL TECH (01912) up 18.23%. Korean equities followed a similar pattern, with E-World (084680) surging 29.97% and HanmiGlobal Architects & Engineers (053690) gaining 18.40%. Gate Stocks now covers more than 12,800 stocks and ETF assets across the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong and Korea markets, including Zero-Fee Mode for U.S. stocks and fractional share trading from 0.01 shares. Gate Live added a new educational series, “Lucas’s Global Stock Market Insights,” with the first episode examining why strong earnings do not always translate into price gains, using NVIDIA as a case study.
Sports Markets: Event Points Phase 2 and LaLiga Kickoff
On the sports markets side, Gate Event Points Phase 2 is now live following the conclusion of Phase 1, which distributed over 35,000 USDT, with the top individual recipient receiving 10,760.23 USDT. The Lucky Prize Pool from Phase 1, unclaimed at 7,173.486 USDT, rolls over to Phase 2. Users can earn scratch cards by trading in eligible Event Markets, with designated “2x” markets offering accelerated card accumulation. The upcoming Barcelona vs. Athletic match on August 27 is the next featured event, and Gate’s “Big Five Leagues Kickoff” promotion — running until August 31 with a 200,000 USDT prize pool — continues to offer loss protection and co-branded Inter Milan jerseys to eligible participants.
